For Women

Line 1 & 2. What is the poet alluding to in these lines?

She's pregnant and she's already working really hard.

Line 5.Explain the reference to the Mason- Dixon?

 To cross the division from south to north.

Line 15. What is the poet reffering to in the line, "when the rainbow's enuff"?

She gives enough love to her kids.

Ain't I a Woman?

Line 1. Who is the "man" to which the author refers?

The author refers to the white man.

Line 6. What is the author alluding to, "Or over mud puddles"?

The author alludes to the white ladies.

Line 10. What does the author mean, "I have plowed and planted'?

She's a woman, she's not supposed to be mistreated or direspected.

Line 12. Explain the line, "And no man could head me"?

No man could hit her.

Line 24. Who is the "little man in black" to which the author refers?

The pain she went throughout her past.

thursday oct. 13,2011 POETRY

1. Poetry is a really creative way of literature. There are  all types of ways to write poetry. Some of poems rhyme and are easy to understand. People's thoughts are interesting. I wish I could write poetry.
2.Well other people have different thoughts about how I think about poetry. You know how they say, "Every head is a different world". Some people don't even like poetry, they think its boring or something.

3.Nope, poetry doesn't have to have a rhyme. poetry can be written in alot of types of ways. Poetry is made depending on the text. The common way of the style of writting poetry is the one that rhymes.

4.Well i think it does because then what was the whole point of the poem?.. Well if its not gonna make sense then who will get it?

5.Poetry could evoke any kinds of feelings, it just depends on the author. There's all type's for example like sad, happy, mystery, anger, pity.
